Welcome!
The Galley Bistro is situated in pretty Hope Square just a few minutes’ short walk from the picturesque harbour in the heart of historic Weymouth. Open several days a week (click here for opening times), the bistro is a family-run establishment, with emphasis placed on friendly service, a warm welcome and great quality, great value, delicious food.
Changing Times
During these difficult times we are constantly re-assesing the best ways to keep ourselves and our customers safe. All our tables (including those outside) are well spaced apart, as are the inside tables. We have sanitising stations inside each doorway and we are ensuring the highest level of cleanliness and hygiene standards are maintained throughout the day. We are offering table service to avoid queues. We are confident that we have done everything we can to offer our guests an enjoyable and more importantly safe experience at the Galley Bistro. We hope to welcome you soon!

Food
Wherever possible all food on our menu has been locally supplied. Our chefs work closely with our butchers, for example, and this ensures that the quality of the dishes we serve is the best we can offer, whether it is the locally made sausages in our breakfasts or fillet steak at dinner.
It is also our policy to be ecologically friendly when selecting our fish dishes, using fish from sustainable sources, as well as utilising the great selection of fish available on the south coast. We love using local suppliers such as Davy's Locker in Bridport who are often able to tempt us with amazing quality fish fresh from the day boats.

Drinks
The Galley Bistro carries a wide selection of drinks to suit all our customers.
We offer 20 different bottles of wine, sourced from across the globe to provide a good blend of new and old world wines to suit all palates.
We also sell draught lager and ciders, bottled real ales from Dorset brewers and a wide selection of soft drinks including teas and coffees.
Atmosphere
The building containing the Galley Bistro has been through many incarnations in its lifetime, including a cooperage, a workshop, a storeroom and for several years a derelict shell. This changed in the 1990s when work began to adapt it into its current incarnation.
The Galley oozes warmth and history with its flagstone floors, Portland stone walls and low beamed ceilings of the original building. Complemented by its dark wooden furniture and soft, Tiffany-style lighting the bistro has an ambience which is unique and wonderful.
The atmosphere is more European on the outside patio, where checked cloths and sun parasols (weather permitting!) are the order of the day. The perfect spot to enjoy an alfresco lunch or early dinner during the summer months or a hot chocolate or a cappuccino whilst making the most of the winter sun.
